National Night Out 2026

One evening. One neighborhood. One nationwide celebration of community.
The Avon Woods Neighborhood Association invites all neighbors to join us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30-7:30 PM at Avon Park for an evening of fellowship, fun and community connection.
Whether you’ve lived in Avon Woods for decades or just moved into the neighborhood, National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity to meet your neighbors, strengthen community ties and get to know the people who help keep our neighborhood safe.
Meet Your Neighbors and Local First Responders
During the evening you’ll have the opportunity to meet members of our Neighborhood Watch Block Captains team, along with special guests from the Memphis Police Department’s Tillman Precinct and the Memphis Fire Department’s Fire Station #21 (on South Mendenhall Rd.) It’s a relaxed setting to ask questions, learn more about neighborhood safety and build relationships with the first responders who serve our community.
Frozen Treats & Free Giveaways
We’re also excited to welcome back neighborhood favorite (Mr. Joe) Ivey’s Ice Cream Truck, where frozen treats will be available for purchase throughout the evening.
Be sure to stop by the Neighborhood Association table for free giveaways while supplies last, including:
- Avon Woods “Important Numbers” Refrigerator Magnets — to keep critical contact info handy
- Rechargeable Personal Handheld Fans — to keep cool on these HOT summer nights
- Mini LED Flashlights — for all those power outages and things that go “bump” in the night!
What is National Night Out?
Held each year on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Millions of neighbors in thousands of communities across the country gather on the same evening to build relationships, strengthen neighborhood spirit and help make their communities safer and more connected.
