In this one-hour session\, participants will learn how to prepare to respond with clarity and confidence in the face of an active shooter situation. This training provides practical guidance to recognize danger\, make critical decisions\, and take action to protect yourself and others in public spaces. Case studies of past events will be exhibited with advice on countering similar events. \n\n\n\nPeople leave this training feeling empowered by their new set of skills and confidence they will make the right decisions for their safety and the safety of their families. This education will prepare you to: \n\n\n\n\nRecognize warning signs and potential threats.\n\n\n\nKnow when to Run\, Hide or Fight.\n\n\n\nLearn the Avoid-Deny-Defend methodology.\n\n\n\nProtect yourself and those around you.\n\n\n\nSurvive a shooting event.\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Shelby County Emergency Management Homeland Security Agency\n\n\n\nThe Shelby County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency serves as the county’s lead organization for emergency preparedness\, disaster response\, recovery\, and homeland security coordination. Families\, children\, dogs (on leashes\, please)\, classic cars\, Jeeps\, golf carts\, strollers\, wagons and bicycles/tricycles are invited to join. \n\nCome early for coffee and beignets from Voodoo Cafe\nStay after the parade for hot dogs\, chips and bottled water\nPost-parade bouncy house inflatable (until approx. 1:00pm)\nMemphis Fire Department pumper truck – with water spray to cool off!\nHollywood Feed – treats for the pups\nMr. Joe’s Ice Cream ($3-5 per treat)\nAvon Woods Neighborhood Association and Neighborhood Watch info table\n\nDecorations Contest – Win Prizes!\nPrizes will be awarded for best decorated bicycles\, tricycles\, scooters and wagons.
