Crime is no longer something that happens to someone else, in some other neighborhood. We are all affected by it. It’s time we band together as Avon Woods neighbors to do something. Join us the evening of Thursday, March 21, at White Station Elementary as we kick-off our efforts to form an Avon Woods Neighborhood Watch.
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the participation of residents in cooperation with the Memphis Police Department to reduce crime, improve the quality of life, and establish a sense of well-being by watching out for one another in our area. The Neighborhood Watch Program is a highly successful effort and proven deterrent to crime that has been in existence for more than 50 years in cities and counties across America — and several neighborhoods throughout Memphis. There is no cost to join.
We will be joined by a Neighborhood Watch representative from the Memphis Police Department, who will introduce us to the basics of forming an official Neighborhood Watch. The program will provide crime prevention education and awareness, personal property identification, and home security tactics.
We will discuss your neighborhood concerns, develop an action plan, and begin to identify block captains for each street section in Avon Woods.
Please join us in the library at White Station Elementary, 4840 Chickasaw Rd., graciously opened to us by Principal Bradley K. Breeden. Please park and enter the building through the entrance facing the west parking lot behind Avon School.
Help spread the news. Post a link to this page on social media, email or text the link to your neighbors.
